Sports Minister’s security increased to 10 MSD personnel amidst threats

COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - In response to reported threats on the life of Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe, three additional police officers from the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) have been assigned to strengthen his security detail.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that a minister is typically entitled to seven MSD officers for security purposes. However, in light of perceived threats, the Sports Minister's security has been reinforced with an extra three MSD officers, bringing the total to 10, as per his request.

The Ministry of Public Security has granted approval for the additional security measures, he said.

Earlier, Minister Ranasinghe claimed to have received various threats following his recent revelations of corruption, fraud and irregularities within Sri Lanka Cricket.
