After their triumphant start in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup with a victory over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka has surpassed South Africa to claim the second-best winning streak in the history of One Day International (ODI) cricket.

In their Asia Cup Super Four triumph against Bangladesh on Saturday, Sri Lanka secured a remarkable 21-run win, propelled by the spin magic of Maheesh Theekshana and an exceptional spell from skipper Dasun Shanaka.

With this win, Sri Lanka has now achieved 13 consecutive ODI victories, dating back to June 2023. Previously, the second-best winning streak was held by South Africa, who had won 12 matches between February and October 2005.

The record for the longest winning streak in ODI cricket history is held by Australia, who achieved 21 consecutive wins between January and May 2003.
