The divers were selected through their achievements at the recently concluded Diving National Championship 2023. The nine divers will participate in six individual events in both men and women categories and compete against peers from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, and Bhutan.

The boys’ team consists of 5 members, notably all hail from Royal College: Matheesha Marambe (Captain), Mikhail Jayaweera, Yusuf Shihar, Ruel Wickramarathne, and Venuka Kankanamge.

The girls’ team includes four talented female divers: Kithmi Marambe (Captain) and Shania Silva from Bishop’s College, Vinudi Kankanamge from Visakha Vidyalaya, and Kisara Ranawaka from St. Bridget’s Convent.

Former Commonwealth diving coach Chanaka Wickramasinghe will join as the coach for the first international sports event of the year, while Janaka Biyanwila will contribute as a judge, and former national diver Sumanthri Samarawickrama has been appointed as the team manager.
