Sunil Handunneththi tops preferential votes in Matara

The National People's Power (NPP) secured six seats in the Matara District, with Sunil Handunneththi receiving the highest number of preferential votes in the district.

NPP Preferential Votes as follows: 

- Sunil Handunneththi: 249,251  
- Saroj Polraj: 148, 379  
- L.M. Abeywickrama: 68,144  
- Akram Ilias: 53,835
- G. Ajamtha: 48,820
- Lal Premanath: 48, 797

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Chathura Galappaththi secured 31,196 preferential votes.
