Tamil schools in Central, Uva Provinces to close on Friday

Colombo, October 30 (Daily Mirror) - All government Tamil medium schools in the Central and Uva Provinces will be closed on November 1 (Friday) following a decision by the respective Zonal Education Directors.

They said the decision was made in view of the Deepavali festival which falls on October 31.

Schools in these provinces have been given a holiday on October 31 to observe the Deepavali festival.

However, to compensate for this holiday, an additional school day will be held on Saturday, November 9, the Zonal Education Directors said.
