The body of LG polls now at Wickremesinghe funeral parlour: Dullas

Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma today questioned as to why United National Party (UNP) handed over nominations to the Local Government elections if the election was not legally declared as claimed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He told Parliament that what was said by the President in Parliament was completely false. He said it was now clear who was behind the move to postpone the LG polls.

"Media and several other people pointed finger at the Treasury Secretary, Government Printer and the Elections Commission for attempting to disrupt the election process. Now, it is clear who really wants to postpone the LG polls. The corpse of LG polls is now lying at Wickremesinghe funeral parlour," he said.

Parliamentarian Alahapperuma said the entire opposition would stand together to fight against the move to postpone the LG polls. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
