Colombo, Nov 04 (Daily Mirror) - The case filed against former State Minister Diana Gamage for allegedly obtaining a national identity card by submitting forged documents despite being aware that she is not a Sri Lankan citizen, was fixed for trial today by the Colombo High Court.
High Court Judge Manjula Tilakaratne fixed the trial for January 9, with three prosecution witnesses summoned to appear before the court on that date.
The Attorney General filed the indictment against Diana Gamage on three counts, including obtaining a Sri Lankan passport by furnishing false information between October 9, 2004, and December 1, 2004.
In 2021, the CID filed a B report before the Chief Magistrate’s Court against Diana Gamage over a complaint that she is a British citizen residing in Sri Lanka without a dual citizenship status. The CID commenced investigations into this incident subsequent to a complaint lodged by social activist Oshala Herath.
