Twenty matches scheduled to be played from January 18

Colombo, Jan. 17 (Daily Mirror) - The four day National Super League cricket tournament which is scheduled to get underway from January 18 will see 20 matches being worked off starting from January 18 with the first two matches slotted to be played at the Sooriyawewa Stadium and the SSC ground which will culminate with the final being due to played from April 30 to May 3 at the Pallekele International Stadium.

Meanwhile the five teams Galle, Kandy, Dambulla, Jaffna and Colombo that will participate in this tournament have been selected. Galle will be led by Ramesh Mendis with young Dunith Wellalage as his deputy and prominent players in the likes of Angelo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal are members of the team.

Pathum Nissanka will be in charge of the Kandy team with Sahan Arachchige as his deputy. Kamindu Mendis will lead the Dambulla team with Minod Bhanuka as the deputy.

The newly elected Sri Lanka Test captain Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the Jaffna side with Sadeera Samarawickrama being his deputy and Sri Lanka’s limited over team captain Kusal Mendis will lead the Colombo side with Charith Asalanka as his deputy and the team looks the strongest comprising of Kusal Janith, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dasun Shanaka, Shevon Daniel and Avishka Fernando.

The match schedule:

  • January 18-21 – Galle vs Kandy at Sooriyawewa Stadium and Jaffna vs Colombo at SSC.
  • January 25-28 – Colombo vs Dambulla at R. Premadasa Stadium and Kandy vs Jaffna at Sooriyawewa Stadium.
  • February 1-4 – Dambulla vs Galle at Sooriyawewa Stadium and Colombo vs Kandy at Pallekele International Stadium.
  • February 8-11 – Jaffna vs Galle at Sooriyawewa Stadium and Kandy vs Dambulla at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.
  • February 15-18 – Galle vs Colombo at Sooriyawewa Stadium and Dambulla vs Jaffna at Pallekele International Stadium.
  • March 14-17 – Galle vs Kandy at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium and Jaffna vs Colombo at Pallekele International Stadium.
  • March 21-24 – Colombo vs Dambulla at Sooriyawewa Stadium and Kandy vs Jaffna at R. Premadasa Stadium.
  • March 28-31 – Dambulla vs Galle at R. Premadasa Stadium and Colombo vs Kandy at Pallekele International Stadium.
  • April 4-7 – Jaffna vs Galle at R Premadasa Stadium and Kandy vs Dambulla at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.
  • April 23-26 – Galle vs Colombo at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium and Dambulla vs Jaffna at Pallekele International Stadium.
