Colombo, Jan. 10 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka is likely to make several key changes ahead of the final ODI in the three-match series against Zimbabwe to be played at Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium on Thursday (11).

Daily Mirror learns that former captain Dasun Shanaka and Avishka Fernando are likely to be excluded from the playing squad for the crucial match. This opens the door for batting all-rounder Nuwanidu Fernando or Shevon Daniel to step in. Shevon Daniel has been included in the ODI squad, replacing Pathum Nissanka, who had to withdraw from the series due to dengue fever. Despite being discharged from the hospital, Nissanka's availability for the upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe depends on his fitness.

Both Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka have struggled to maintain their form in the previous ODIs, contributing to disappointment in the top and middle-order batting lineup.

Sri Lanka currently leads the ODI series 1-0, with the first game being called off due to rain and the second ODI won by two wickets in a thrilling encounter.

Given the poor batting performance, including struggles from Fernando and Shanaka, the selectors are contemplating changes in the final playing eleven.

Chief Selector Upul Tharanga has confirmed that certain changes will be made in the squad for the last ODI, although the final decisions are yet to be solidified.

Despite the consistent performance of Sri Lanka's bowling unit, the spotlight now shifts to the batters as they bear greater responsibility in the lead-up.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Cricket said that the public will be allowed to watch the final ODI, Free-Of-Charge, from the C&D Upper and Lower Stands of the RPICS, Colombo.

Accordingly, the entrance gates for the respective stands will be opened at 1 p.m. tomorrow for the public to enter.
