Wannithilake to captain Sri Lanka at Singapore Nation Cup Netball

The Sri Lanka Netball Federation Selection Committee has picked veteran Dulangi Wannithilake to lead the national team at the 14th Singapore Nation Cup Invitation Netball Tournament 2023.

Wannithilake was the Sri Lanka team vice captain at the Cape Town Netball World Cup 2023.

She is a product of Holy Family Convent (HFC) Kurunegala.

A team of 15 including three stand-byes have been forwarded to the Ministry of Sports for approval.

Former assistant coach P.D.N. Prasadi has been appointed as the coach of the Sri Lanka team.

The tournament will be held from October 22-28 at OCBA Arena Sports Hub Singapore with the participation of six teams.

Canada, Papua New Guinea, Cook Island, Sri Lanka will participate as invited teams while hosts Singapore will have two teams, according to Netball Singapore.

Sri Lanka is participating in this tournament conducted by Netball Singapore after 2013.

Sri Lanka has never won the tournament being fourth in 2007, 2008 and 2013 and fifth in 2011. (Susil Premalal)
