We will form our own SJB government: Sajith

Whilst ruling out a new multiparty government, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa yesterday pledged to form a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) administration with a fresh mandate.

“ We will form our own SJB government comprising 113 SJB MPs with a fresh mandate. Do not show us carrots in the form of Premiership, state and deputy ministers as we will not accept any of these. We will form our own government with 113 of our own MPs after a fresh mandate,” he said.

“ Be ready to chase the Rajapaksa's and others who robbed public funds away from this country and to grab all the properties they have stolen from the public,” he added.

“ We will also bring all those who robbed public property to book,” he also said.

The protest began opposite Fort Railway station while a section of the crowd walked towards President’s House down Lotus Road. The protesters called for the resignation of both President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. (Yohan Perera)
