The Japan International Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) assured its commitment to continue providing financial and technical assistance to Sri Lanka.

The assurance was given by JICA’s Senior Vice President Hara Shohei when he met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat this week.

“The agency pledged support for the 'Clean Sri Lanka' project, transport reforms, and ongoing infrastructure projects, including the BIA expansion,” the Presidential Media Division stated.

As Japan’s official implementing agency for bilateral aid, JICA has been a long-standing supporter of Sri Lanka post-independence.

The agency has provided several Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans, technical aid, and grants to uplift key sectors such as rural development, infrastructure improvement, and community well-being.
