Sri Lanka received 4, 582 tourists in March, up from 3,366 in February and 1, 682 in January, the tourist arrivals data released by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) showed.
Although, arrivals recorded month-on-month showed a growth both in February and March, arrivals were down significantly compared to the same months of the previous year.
Sri Lanka opened its doors to tourists on January 21 after closing its borders for about 10 months due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The cumulative tourist arrivals for the first quarter of 2021 stood at 9, 629, down over 98 percent from a year ago.
The largest source markets in the month of March was Kazakhstan, followed by Germany, and United Kingdom
