Sri Lanka has invited the business community in New Zealand to invest in the proposed Colombo International Financial City (CIFC), which is to be constructed on reclaimed land from the sea.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe extended the invitation to the New Zealand business community when he addressed the Sri Lanka-New Zealand Business Council in Auckland on Saturday.

Wickremeisnghe had told the business community in New Zealand that they could get into the markets in India through their presence in CIFC, a statement from the Prime Minister’s office said.
He also sought New Zealand’s support for the development of tourism, aviation, dairy and fishery industries.

The Prime Minister also said that Sri Lanka is looking towards converting its second international airport in Mattala into an aviation services training school.

Prime Minister Wickremeisnghe is said to have held bilateral discussions with his New Zealand counterpart John Key on these matters.

Key had invited the Sri Lankan Minister of Fisheries Mahinda Amaraweera and the ministry officials to New Zealand to study the fishery and dairy industries.
