Sri Lanka Telecom opens trading at CSE

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC (SLT) opened trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday. This event was yet another in a series of Market Opening Ceremonies, featuring the companies from the S&P SL20 Index. 

Chairman P.G. Kumarasinghe Sirisena, Group Chief Executive Officer Dileepa Wijedsundera, Chief Marketing Officer Ajantha Seneviratne, Chief Regional Officer Chinthaka Wijesooriya, Chief Corporate Officer S.K. Lal Ranjith, Chief Administrative Officer Priyantha Perera and Chief Financial Officer Udeni Samarathne from Sri Lanka Telecom PLC and Chairman Vajira Kulatilaka, CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike and the senior management from the CSE took part in the Market Opening Ceremony.

Wijedsundera stated, “Listing on the Colombo Stock Exchange apart from numerous advantages in recognition, SLT then became an entity with much interest from both foreign and local investors. Not only did it bring monetary advantages and investor confidence but also the wealth of technological experience in providing, catered the development of telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka. At the same time, with the compliance of CSE listing rules, SLT proceeded with the implementation of best practices in corporate governance as well as maintaining transparency throughout its activities.” 

Kulatilaka stated, “The purpose of these Market Opening Ceremonies is to strengthen the relationship between the Stock Exchange and listed companies.”  He further stated, “We should get together to promote not only SLT but also to help us to promote Sri Lanka and show the world that we have good companies with governance and growth opportunities and this will take Sri Lanka to a different level.”
