A unit of Access Engineering Group, Access Logistics Park Ekala (Pvt.) Limited, has won a bid to develop a 36-acre logistics and business park mixed development project in Ekala, Ja-Ela, from the Urban Development Authority (UDA).
According to the RFP document, the selected bidder is expected to invest US $ 200 million in the mixed development project. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, in his capacity as the Urban Development and Housing Minister, this week sought the approval of the Cabinet of Ministers to grant the land in extent of 36 acres 01 rood and 27.6 perches, situated in Ekala, Ja-Ela, to Access Logistics Park Ekala (Pvt.) Limited, on a term lease basis.
According to the UDA sources, the RFP has attracted three to four bidders and Access Group had presented the most attractive proposal.
The project, which is located on the former Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) land in Ekala Town, is expected to generate 2000 to 3000 employment opportunities and is marked for completion in 2023/2024.
