The staff of aviation and airports, being among the most vulnerable in the current pandemic, will be given the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from next Monday onwards, said Aviation and Investment Zone Development State Minister D.V. Chanaka.

After informing President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Health Minister Pavitra Wanniarachchi and making a special request, considering the special circumstances of the jobs of the airport staff, the Health Ministry decided to issue them the second dose of the vaccine.
The first dose of the vaccine was given to the airport staff in February, this year, where about 10000 were vaccinated.
With the commencement of the second dose vaccination on Monday, the full vaccination would be completed.
The second dose will be given to the staff of Bandaranaike International Airport, Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport, Ratmalana Airport and also the staff of SriLankan Airlines.
