Allianz Lanka has launched its ‘Restart the Heart’ campaign to promote awareness about emergency care techniques, such as CPR.

The first edition of ‘Restart the Heart’ was conducted with a focus on taxi drivers.

Allianz Lanka placed its focus on taxi drivers as they form the backbone of affordable transportation in the country. Furthermore, their presence on Sri Lanka’s roads is ubiquitous, which makes them ideally placed to save lives on the road in an unexpected situation.

CPR or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is one of the most useful and easily applied lifesaving techniques, if performed correctly, in the event an individual has stopped breathing or their heart stops.

Accordingly, members of the Three-Wheeler Drivers Welfare Association of Fort were present at the event, which was hosted by Allianz Lanka, in collaboration with the Resuscitation Council – College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists, and Lions Club International.

The inaugural session of ‘Restart the Heart’ has seen over 70 individuals actively participating in an awareness and training workshop on CPR, and other techniques and practices that could save a life in the event of a sudden heart attack.

Discussing the initiative, Kasun Yatawara – Head of Marketing at Allianz Lanka said, “This is only the first step, and just the beginning.
