Anods Cocoa (Pvt.) Ltd, which offers a premium selection of chocolates to the consumer, took a bold step to tap into several strategic export markets under the brand name Puredale Nature’s Crest, to support the national economy overcome the current foreign exchange crisis and navigate through the pandemic-triggered challenges.
Puredale Nature’s Crest product line, which is solely export-oriented, includes several consumer items such as keeri samba rice, coconut milk powder, desiccated coconut as well as the locally popular Puredale Kirithe. As the pandemic hit, the organisation commenced exporting these products to the global destinations such as the USA, Japan, South Korea, the Maldives and Pakistan, thus generating valuable foreign exchange to the country, which is crucial to simulating the economic growth.
Anods Cocoa (Pvt.) Ltd Chairman Lakshman Weerasuriya said, “While the economy was at a standstill, as a responsible business, we embraced this turning point to diversify our exports and reach international markets. Our well qualified R&D team worked tirelessly to create innovative products such as Puredale Kirithe to meet the needs of the global consumers.”
The company has also included spices into its line of export consumer goods.
According to the chairman, the company is currently negotiating and discussing with foreign entities to bring foreign direct investments into the country whilst advocating for free trade agreements to support the economic revival in the post-pandemic situation.
The chairman further stated that Anods Cocoa (Pvt.) Ltd has always focused on consumer well-being by offering quality products manufactured on par with global food safety standards to meet nutritional levels of the consumer. Similarly, during the pandemic, the company took extra measures to ensure that employee needs and well-being were also met.
“Despite the financial pressure, the management ensured that the staff increments and bonuses were provided without any salary cuts whilst taking various measures as advised by the health authorities to safeguard the employees from COVID-19,” Weerasuriya added.
