BOI Chairman Mohottala calls on Korean Ambassador

Sanjaya Mohottala, Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) recently called on Woon Jin Jeong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to discuss several initiatives that would potentially increase FDI inflows from Korea to Sri Lanka.


At the meeting, the Chairman appreciated the efforts extended by the ambassador in support of the recently concluded Sri Lanka Investment Forum (SLIF) breakout session featuring Korean Investors. The Chairman then went on to brief the Ambassador regarding otherinitiatives the BOI is currently engaged in to attract more FDI from Korea.


Both Chairman BOI and the Ambassador are optimistic of the prospect of premier Korean companies investing in Sri Lanka as a result of targeted investment promotion initiatives in the Korean market, orchestrated by the BOI and ably supported by  Saj Mendis, Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Korea, KOTRA and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka.


Furthermore, the BOI will also be collaborating with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul, and the Korean Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) to promote investment opportunities at the Eravur Textile Park in August 2021.


This event will be followed by a webinar on investment prospects at the upcoming Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Zone in Hambantota, scheduled for November this year.
