Bandula Fernando at helm of Sri Lanka Chamber of Garment Exporters

Rainbow Clothing Managing Director Bandula Fernando was elected as President of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Garment Exporters (SLCGE), at the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on January 20, at Union Ballroom, Hilton Colombo Residencies, Colombo 2.


Industries Minister Wimal Weerawansa was the chief guest at the AGM while Brandix Lanka Limited Group Chief Executive Officer Ashroff Omar graced the occasion as the guest of honour.


Hemantha Perera was elected as General Secretary of the chamber while Rantha Tissera was elected as the new Treasurer.
It was also revealed that Nishantha Bakmeege is the new Vice President while Rumesh Perera was elected as Assistant General Secretary. The new Assistant Treasurer is Menuka Gunawardana.


The SLCGE, which was formed in 1992, with the primary objective of promoting and fostering the growth of small and medium-scale apparel exporters in Sri Lanka, currently represents approximately 78 members, who actively export and manufacture for large-scale exporters in the country. The SCLCGE also caters to international prestigious brand names in the UK, USA, EU, Australia, Japan, Russian Federation, India, etc. 


The AGM was attended by representatives from all forums in the apparel industry, state officials, suppliers and internationally reputed service providers related to the apparel industry in addition to its members.
