The mobile money platforms of Sri Lanka’s two leading celcos, Dialog Axiata PLC and Mobitel, have both claimed to be the first in Sri Lanka to have enabled customers to top up their mobile cash wallets directly via bank accounts.

A press statement issued on last Friday by Mobitel said it partnered with JustPay of LankaClear to enable Mobitel mCash customers to top up their wallet directly from their preferred bank account for the first time in Sri Lanka.

Mobitel said Cargills Bank as the JustPay acquiring Bank has supported the initiative and the service is completely free of charge.

Dialog Axiata in a press release yesterday said, the company is introducing top up via bank accounts for its eZ Cash customers for the first time in Sri Lanka.

“This feature will be available via the eZ Cash app on any smartphone, and enable eZ Cash customers to use their current and savings bank accounts to top-up the eZ Cash wallet at no transaction fee.

The new feature enables enhanced convenience, providing customers with access to top-up anytime, anywhere,” the press release noted.

Dialog Axiata also said their partner in this venture was JustPay of LankaClear, a company co-owned by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) and all licensed commercial banks operating in Sri Lanka.
