Browns Hotels & Resorts launches ‘Futurekey’

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Eksath Wijeratne, Group General Manager, Browns Hotels & Resorts and Tharanga Gamlath, Chairman, National Apprenticeship and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), forming a partnership to upskill and reskill youth. 


Browns Hotels & Resorts takes pride in being the first hotel chain to establish a training programme where participants are provided with an internationally recognized qualification in addition to being remunerated well above industry standards, allowing them to prosper within the hospitality sphere. Futurekey consists of a management trainee programme catering to graduates and an apprenticeship catering to school leavers.


FutureKey Management Trainee programme is a 2-year programme designed to give trainees exposure across Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Human Resources, Finance, Sales & Marketing functions through the various Browns Hotels & Resortsspread around the island. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible for a management position within the organization in addition to a NAITA internationally accredited NVQ Level 6 qualification.


FutureKey Apprentice programme is a 1 to 2-year programme where candidates can opt to specialize in eitherFront Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverages, Culinary or Maintenance departments, and will be facilitated at three main locations; Club Hotel Dolphin in Waikkal, AvaniBentota Resort and The Calm Resort & Spa in Pasikuda. 


Upon completion, participants will receive a NAITA internationally accredited NVQ Level 3 - 4 qualifications, opening many doors within the hospitality sphere, both locally as well as internationally.
