CB and FinMin stress stability of banking system in joint statement

Responding to comments by Opposition MP Dr.Harsha de Silva in parliament yesterday about speculations that a State bank had defaulted payment, the Central Bank and the Finance Ministry in a joint statement denied such claims.

“The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka wish to assure the public and all other stakeholders that the banking system is stable, and that the operations of State banks are being carriedout smoothly, contrary to statements made otherwise,” the statement said.
