CB appoints new Monetary Policy Consultative Committee

The Central Bank this week announced the appointment of the new members to the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee (MPCC), with effect from October 5, 2021. 


The reconstituted MPCC comprises 12 eminent personalities from the private sector and academia and is chaired by former Central Bank Deputy Governor and Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka Member Sunil Lankathilake.


The other members are Stassen Group of Companies Chief Financial Officer Dhamitha Cooke, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Import Section Niranjan Dissanayake, Access Engineering PLC Managing Director Christopher Joshua, Professor of Economics Prof. Sunanda Madduma Bandara, Brandix Lanka Limited Chief Executive Officer Ashroff Omar, Softlogic Group Chairman/Managing Director Ashok Pathirage, Vallibel One PLC Chairman and Hayleys PLC Co-Chairman Dhammika Perera, Mainettech Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd Chairman Jeyam Perumal, DSI Samson Group Emeritus Managing Director Dr. Kulatunga Rajapaksa, retired senior banker Rusiripala Tennekone and Hemas Holdings PLC Group Chief Executive Officer Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson.


The primary role of this high-level consultative committee is to represent the views and sentiments of the private sector and academia on the developments in the monetary policymaking process, thereby enabling the Central Bank to make informed monetary policy decisions in a more consultative manner.


The Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, which serves as the Secretariat of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), also serves as the Secretariat of the MPCC.
