CIPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, created a path-breaking milestone with the University of Vavuniya, recently signing a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The MoU brings together CIPM SL as an esteemed professional organisation in Sri Lanka and the University of Vavuniya as a leading centre promoting excellence in knowledge advancement and dissemination collaborating to promote the prospects of human resource principles, exchange and establish linkages to advance knowledge and practice in the field. The agreement was signed recently between Chartered Institute of Personnel Management President Jayantha Amarasinghe and Vavuniya University Vice Chancellor Dr. T. Mangeleswaran.
Present to witness this momentous occasion were CIPM SL Professional and Academic Affairs Chief Officer/Director G. Weerathunga, Hony. Treasurer Jayantha Abeyrathna, Council Member Col. (Retd) Saman Jayawickrama and Executive, Media and Digital Marketing Thiruchelvam Krishanth. Faculty of Business Studies Dean Dr. Y. Nadagopan, Head/Department of Human Resource S. Harikaran, Lecturer (Prob) in HRM M.R.F. Aqeela Ijas and many other academic and non-academic staff members and students from the University of Vavuniya were also present.
Under the agreement pursuing common interests, CIPM and the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) of the university will develop mechanisms for institutional collaboration towards the advancement of human resources, where both parties will promote and develop principles, techniques and practices of human resource management (HRM), while utilising and optimising opportunities at national and international levels. The institutional collaboration will ensure the implementation of the Advance Course in Human Resource Management (ACHRM) for undergraduates, graduates and HR professionals.
Other specific subject areas will also be facilitated to enhance institutional development, ensuing sustainability in catering to all aspects of HRM and human resource development at the individual, institutional, national or international platforms.
The Vavuniya Campus, affiliated with the Jaffna University, was declared a separate university by the government on August 1, 2021 and currently offers undergraduate programmes via the Faculties of Business Studies, Applied Science and Technological Studies.
