CMA to conduct ‘Company Secretarial Practice’ workshop

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a workshop on ‘Company Secretarial Practice’ on January 25 and 26, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Renuka City Hotel, Colombo 3.


This course is designed to be highly interactive and emphasis will be placed on participatory learning through lectures, discussions, case study analysis, etc.


The resource persons at the workshop will be Rajanie  Balakrishnan, FCIS  (UK], Dayani De Silva, FCIS (UK) and Bentley  Barsenbach, FCIS (UK), who have proven practical and theoretical exposure to company secretarial practices with long years of experience and knowledge on the new changes that have taken place in Sri Lanka and globally.


The programme starts with a look at the statutory role and core duties of the company secretary, moving on to explore the secretary’s work in such key areas as working with the board of director, its various committees, compliance with the listing, disclosure and transparency rules, regulation and best practice in corporate governance, compliance with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka regulations for banks and finance companies, share plans and other executive incentives, managing investor relations and year-end matters.


The participants of this course will acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge in the fundamentals of corporate secretaryship, thus being able to carry out a secretary’s duties both confidently and effectively.   


This programme is meant for company secretaries, assistant secretaries, lawyers, finance managers, accountants and other managers and executives who have the relevant qualifications to practice as company secretary.
