The Cabinet green light has been granted for the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) to call proposals for a joint business-oriented promotional campaign.

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga on Monday sought the approval of the Cabinet to call for proposals from leading airlines, selected online travel organisers, leading international tour operators and internationally recognised advertising agencies as well as print media and financial institutions for the proposed campaign. According to the Government Information Department, the joint business-oriented promotion campaign aims to attract more tourists to the country.

Prior to the Russian-Ukraine conflict, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) tourist arrivals forecast for the country this year was between 529,808 and 1,046,282. In the first two months of the year, Sri Lanka welcomed 178,834 tourists to the country.
