Capital Market Masters provincial competitions successfully conclude

The Capital Market Masters inter-school capital market club quiz competitions have successfully concluded at the provincial level, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of young participants from established Capital Market Clubs across the country.

The Capital Market Masters competitions were organised by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and Colombo Stock Exchange, in collaboration with the Education Ministry and Presidential Secretariat. The completion of the provincial level competitions sets the stage for the highly anticipated national level competition. 

The Cluster 03 competition featured 11 prominent schools from the Central province and was held recently at Sampath Hall, Kandy with Dharmaraja College – Kandy emerging as the victor.

The Cluster 04 competition, featuring 38 schools from the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces, was held recently, at the World Trade Centre. 

Ananda College and Royal College emerged as the overall winners of the Cluster 04 competition as well as the joint champions of the Western province. R/Sivali Central College and H/Tangalle Balika Vidyalaya triumphed in the Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, respectively.

SEC Deputy Director General Tushara Jayaratne stated, “The SEC is committed to enhancing financial literacy across various segments of society. Building financial literacy from a young age is crucial for long-term success. By starting early, individuals can develop healthy financial habits and gain confidence in their ability to handle their finances effectively throughout their lives. We take particular satisfaction in our initiatives aimed at promoting financial education among schoolchildren, as these efforts help empower the investors of tomorrow.”

With the conclusion of the provincial level competitions, attention now turns to the national level competition.
