The Central Bank, in collaboration with the Centre for Banking Studies, has offered a specialised certificate course on macroeconomics for individuals interested in macroeconomic journalism.
The 12-week programme is aimed at enhancing professional skills of journalists by providing a comprehensive understanding of the macroeconomy, financial systems and role of modern central banks, according to the Central Bank.
The interested applicants are to apply before Friday, September 13, 2024.
Conducted in both Sinhala and English, the course will be held on 12 consecutive Tuesdays, starting from October 01 to December 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The sessions, led by Central Bank Governing Board Deputy Secretary Dr. Anil Perera, will take place physically at the Sri Lanka Press Institute, located on Kirula Road, Colombo 5.
The course fee is set at Rs.20,000.
The programme is set to cover topics including an overview of the macroeconomic and financial systems, key economic sectors and macroeconomic policies.
Moreover, it will explore the contemporary macroeconomic issues such as growth, development, interest rates and inflation, along with the key challenges in emerging economies.
