Ceylon Grain Elevators PLC (CGE) yesterday informed the Colombo Stock Exchange that four of its staffers at the feed mill business unit, located at No: 15, Rock House Lane, Colombo 15, tested positive for COVID-19, on October 31.
“Only one of the four staff members was at the premises at the time and was immediately isolated from the rest of the staff and quarantined as per the directives from the health authorities.
The remaining three staff members were at home and have been placed in home quarantine,” a stock exchange filing by the company said.
CGE said these cases were identified with on-site regular PCR tests, which are part of the precautionary measures implemented by the company.
“Production at the feed mill had stopped since November 1, 2020 and will be closed for four days. During this period, the company will conduct PCR tests for close contacts of the infected staff members and execute a thorough disinfection of the feed mill. All close contacts of confirmed cases have been advised to stay home and isolate themselves to self-monitor and submit daily health reports to the company,” the filing said.
CGE said a backup production team is in place and would take over the feed mill production activities, once the feed mill is open for operations.
GCE operates poultry farms located throughout the island and its poultry processing plant is located in Seeduwa. The company said those operations remain fully operational, with normal business activities.
