Colombo Tea Auction sees 5.39 MnKgs on offer this week

A total of 5.39 million kilogrammes of tea were on offer at this week’s Colombo Tea Auction, where 2.25 million kilogrammes were Low Grown Main Grades and 1.82 million kilogrammes were High and Mid Grown Main Grades. 
Asia Siyaka Commodities, in its update said, in the Leafy and Semi Leafy catalogues, a few select best BOP1/OP1s maintained, whilst the best varieties were barely steady; the below best together with the poorer sorts declined. The select best OP/OPAs in general maintained, whilst the others and poorer sorts declined following quality. 
The select best Pekoe/Pekoe1s were barely steady, whilst the others declined. The teas at the lower end maintained. In the small leaf catalogues, the select best together with the well-made FBOP/FBOPF1s were fully firm, whilst the below best together with poorer sorts declined. In the Premium Flowery catalogues, the well-made leafy sorts gained, whilst the others were fully firm. 

Improved demand at this week’s Ex-Estate auction was seen with the select best Westen BOPs gained up to Rs.100; the below best gained Rs.50 to Rs.80, with the bottom firm to slightly dearer. The select best and coloury Western BOPFs gained Rs.20 to Rs.50 and more, whilst the others were firm. 
Hardly any Nuwara Eliyas were on offer. The Udapussellawa BOPs were irregular and the BOPFs were about firm. The Uva BOPs and BOPFs sold at last levels. The Medium BOPs were firm to slightly dearer. The BOPFs maintained. CTC BP1s and PF1s were about firm on last.
