Courier Express Parcel Association holds AGM 2024

The Courier and Express Parcel Association of Sri Lanka (CEPAC) recently conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the year 2024-2025, marking a significant highlight in the association’s ongoing ePorts to address the industry challenges and enhance operational ePiciency. 

The CEPAC, the leading industry body representing the interests of the courier and express parcel sector in Sri Lanka, is dedicated to promoting excellence, fostering innovation and advocating for policies that improve the industry’s growth and sustainability.

The event was held at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and brought together key stakeholders from the logistics and courier industry.

In the opening speech, the current President Chaminda Mallawa highlighted the achievements of the past year, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the committee members. Despite the regulatory challenges, the association has significantly strengthened its membership and collaborated with the key stakeholders. 
The key accomplishments include the implementation of new industry standards, successfully persuading regulatory reforms and initiatives to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.

At the recent AGM, key appointments were made to ensure continuity and ePective leadership within the organisation. Chaminda Mallawa was reappointed as President for another year, underscoring the commitment to maintaining stable and strategic leadership. 

Sanjay Samarasinghe and Nishantha Rathmalvina will serve as Vice Presidents. Sumedha Gunasekara, formerly Assistant Secretary, has been promoted to Secretary.

Viranna Fonseka, appointed as the new Assistant Secretary, is expected to enhance the ePiciency of the administrative functions. Sonali De Silva will continue as Treasurer, ensuring ongoing financial oversight, while Manoj Enoch remains as Assistant Treasurer, supporting financial management.

The highlight of the AGM was the keynote speech delivered by Sri Lanka Customs Additional Director General Sudattha Silva.

Silva dwelled on the importance of automation in customs operations, outlining the steps taken to streamline processes and enhance transparency. He also discussed the vital role of customs in social protection and the ongoing ePorts to integrate various regulatory agencies into a cohesive automated system. 

He signified that the association would have the opportunity to present and discuss their common issues with the relevant customs authorities. His address was followed by a lively Q&A session, where members discussed various issues impacting the industry.
