Dinesh next HNB Chairman

Dinesh Weerakkody, the former Chairman of Commercial Bank of (Ceylon) PLC, will take over as the Chairman of Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) with effect from May 26, 2018.


His appointment comes in the wake of the retirement of the incumbent Chairman Rienzi Arsecularathne PC.


Arsecularathne retires as per the Central Bank direction, having reached the age of 70 years on May 25, 2018.  


Weerakkody is a former Chairman of the Employers Trust Fund and was a Director of DFCC Bank. 


He also chaired the government Committee appointed by Prime Minister Wickremesinghe to review the banking sector consolidation in 2015. 


Weerakkody is one of the most senior directors in the financial sector having served nine years on the board of Commercial Bank of (Ceylon) and eight years on the board of DFCC bank PLC. 


Weerakkody is a director of a number of public listed and unlisted companies and currently is the Chairman of the National Human Resource Development Council of Sri Lanka.
