Dumindra Ratnayaka appointed new BOI Chairman

Former Etisalat CEO Dumindra Ratnayaka, who was recently re-appointed as a director of Sri Lanka’s apex state-run investment promotion body, Board of Investment (BOI), has been appointed as its Chairman, Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry said in a brief note yesterday. 


Ratnayaka’s appointment comes in the wake of the sudden resignation of the previous Chairman Upul Jayasuriya. Along with Ratnayaka’s appointment, former Colombo Dockyard CEO Mangala Yapa, who has been serving the Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry as the Managing Director-designate of the proposed Agency for Development, has also been appointed to the BOI board.


After retiring from Colombo Dockyard, Yapa functioned as the Director General/CEO of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.


Also, Ajit Gunewardene, the Deputy Chairman of John Keells Holdings has been appointed a board member of BOI.


The appointments have been made by President Maithripala Sirisena.
