EDB holds seminar for electronics and electrical sector exporters

The Export Development Board (EDB) organised a seminar for the electronics and electrical sector exporters and potential exporters in Sri Lanka to make them aware on the recent developments of the industry and the market linkages and trade and tariff concessions in identified regional markets. About 35 participants from the electronics and electrical sector attended this seminar held at the EDB.


This seminar briefly covered the proposed Economic and Technology Cooperation Agreement between India and Sri Lanka (ETCA), India-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement (ISFTA), EU GSP Plus concessions, proposed Singapore-Sri Lanka FTA, role of Sri Lanka Electronic Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association (SLEMEA), research findings of the recent EDB-organised market exposure programme for the sector in Vietnam and Thailand, business matchmaking programme in Malaysia and Singapore for the Sri Lankan electronics and electrical sector exporters to be held from July 16 to 21, 2018 and a briefing on ‘Productronica India 2018’ trade fair to be held in September 2018 in India.


EDB Director General Jeevani Siriwardena delivered the introductory remarks. Commerce Department Commerce Director Nimal Karunathilake briefed the importance of the FTAs to promote trade with those countries. Sri Lanka Electronic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (SLEMEA) Secretary Shayane Madappulli, Director Export Services M.K.S.K. Maldeni and senior officials of the Export Services Division of the EDB delivered the presentations.
