EDEX Expo 2018 to kick off this Friday at BMICH

Sri Lanka’s largest education exhibition and job fair, EDEX Expo will be held from January 19th to 21st 2018 at BMICH Colombo.


The expo will be the 32nd in the continuing series. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe is expected to declare open the event as Chief Guest.


Originated in year 2004, the EDEX Expo has transformed, to being a school career fair, to be a renowned global name in the education market, which has continued to empower Sri Lankan youth to be globally competitive, and reach towards the pinnacle of achievement. A job-fair and entrepreneurship zone will complement the 15th anniversary celebration of excellence in the professional sphere.


The Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Highways, Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Trade Union Relations and Sabaragamu Development, Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) have endorsed the event considering its value to the youth. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) too continue their strategic partnerships signifying the EDEX’s relevance to many industry chambers and employers.


EDEX Expo 2018 will encompass a platform of local and global convergence of key post-secondary educational stakeholders, comprising over 200 education exhibition booths, representing local and foreign universities and institutes from over 20 countries. International presence will be enhanced with Education Malaysia sponsored Malaysian pavilion together with country pavilions from Japan, Australia, India, and France. Direct or local representatives from leading universities in USA, UK, Russia, China, Switzerland, Singapore and Turkey will enhance the value of Expo further.


An added feature to mark 15 years of excellence will be celebrity interviews to showcase professionalism, talent and skills, of high achieving professionals for the youth to emulate. This activity to be known as ‘Edutainment’ to be staged between 3:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. in all three days will witness key figures in society being interviewed and sharing their stories and experiences together with acts of entertainment to motivate youth to bring out their intrinsic skills and talents.


The event’s esteemed sponsors in the Platinum category are; National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), National School of Business Management (NSBM), Colombo Institute of Research and Psychology (CIRP) and Education Malaysia. Its Gold Sponsors are American Education Center Ltd, ESOFT Metro Campus, Royal Institute of Colombo, CINEC Campus, Scottish Qualifications Authority and American International Campus. National Development Bank PLC (NDB Bank) has come on board as the Official Banker.


The print media partner will be the Associated News Papers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) and the Electronic Media Partner is Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation together with Channel Eye. Citypak continues to be the Official Courier.


EDEX Job Fair will create a conduit between job providers and seekers, will comprise over 30 stalls of reputed and leading corporates representing many important segments in the economy. Job seekers are invited to upload their CVs to edexcareers.lk. The Psychometric Testing Centre, in collaboration with the National Career Guidance Association (NCGA) will provide the youth yeoman service in guiding youth on the right career paths. The EDEX Entrepreneurship Zone, will continue to provide expert advice on starting their own business and establish themselves in gainful employment.
