EPF members requested to avoid visiting Labour Secretariat for fund withdrawals

The Commissioner General of Labour, B.K.Prabath Chandrakeerthi has urged the public to avoid visiting Labour Secretariat located in Narahenpita to withdraw their EPF funds or submit application to withdraw funds due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, particularly in the Colombo district. 

Issuing a statement to media yesterday, Chandrakeerthi requested the public to visit the district and zonal units attached the Department of Labour to withdraw EPF funds.

He noted that the Department has restructured the process of withdrawing EPF member funds by allowing EPF members to withdraw their funds through the network of district and zonal offices attached to the Labour Department. 

Accordingly, these units have been permitted to directly submit member applications to the Central Bank. Therefore, Chandrakeerthi assured the public that there wouldn’t  be any undue delays in collecting EPF funds due to the changes.
