  • Euro Motors has been sole agent for JAC brand-new vehicles since 2005
  • With launch of SOP for locally assembled vehicles, Euro Motors and JAC Motors, China, have come to an agreement to assemble JAC-branded vehicles in SL
  • Projects to use locally produced components with highest quality sourcing from local automobile component manufacturers to assemble JAC-branded vehicle in SL

JAC is one of the world-renowned automobile brands and it is one of China’s top 10 automotive brands. JAC is the product of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Corp (JAC Motors) Ltd that was established in 1964 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. JAC is a Comprehensive Automobile Group, which has advanced energy-saving vehicles, new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles and it covers all classes of vehicles such as light truck, medium and heavy-duty truck, multifunctional commercial vehicles, MPV, SUV, sedan and electric vehicles.
JAC Motors has won several quality awards, due to its compliance to stringent quality standards from China Chamber of Commerce for Imports and Exports, China Association for Quality. JAC Motors established its R&D centre in Heifei, while two overseas design centres have been established in Turin, Italy and in Tokyo, Japan.

Today, with all efforts, JAC Motors has been successful in maintaining the quality and management on a par with the international most advanced standards.

Currently, JAC vehicles are being exported to South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It has established its corporation and relationship with partners in more than 130 countries in the world.

JAC has already established 19 overseas KD factories in Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East and so on.
As a long-lasting partner for almost two decades representing the Sri Lankan market, Euro Motors (EM) has also been inherited to obtain JAC technical know-how, advice and training in establishing the assembly plant. Through this venture, EM aims to achieve several objectives such as receiving technology transfer, safeguarding the employment of labour force in the company and in the industry, providing more employment opportunities, enhancing the technical education by providing the room for the students at universities and technical institutes via opening in-plant training opportunities, helping develop the automobile component manufacturing industry in the SME sector by sourcing more locally produced parts/components and saving foreign currency in addition to the local value addition.

At the first phase of the project, “we are going to assemble a light commercial truck, which is widely used in the fishing industry, by packed and dry food manufacturers, fresh meat fruit and vegetable cultivators and farmers, furniture manufacturers, hardware merchants, pesticide and chemical manufacturers and distributors, sanitary item and stationary product manufacturers, book, magazine and newspaper publishers, medicine and  medical equipment producers and distributors, to transport their products to retail outlets and shops”, EM management said.

“In addition to this, we have also discussed with several local automobile component manufacturers to procure their products to assemble the product within the country. Introducing the operating procedure is a greater initiative taken by the government for the assemblers and it is a pivotal decision that generates immense benefits to all stakeholders such as local assemblers, components manufacturers in the SME sector, specially customers, public at large and finally the government.”

This is just a start but this will open the window for local entrepreneurs in both local component manufacturing and vehicle assembling to cater the huge overseas market in future with their own brand together with the ‘Made In Sri Lanka’ logo.

Concluding, EM added that it is very optimistic to start a project very soon once all the formalities are done and the company has already set to finish the rest of the activities of the project to start the commercial production immediately.
