The Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) yesterday urged the new government to appoint experienced and capable leaders to steer key national institutions, highlighting that with effective leadership, Sri Lanka can fully capitalise on its vast potential.

In a statement to the media, FCCISL President Keerthi Gunawardane congratulated President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on his victory in last week’s Presidential Election and emphasised the business community’s optimism for the nation’s future under his leadership.

“As President, we trust that you will inspire the nation with your commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that the governance of our beloved country is free from corruption. We believe that by strengthening integrity in public institutions, the new administration can foster an environment where Sri Lankan citizens and businesses alike can thrive,” Gunawardane stated.

With President Dissanayake’s administration preparing to announce key appointments in the coming weeks, the federation urged the government to prioritise selecting leaders with a strong track record of experience and competence to lead the country’s essential national institutions.

Moreover, the FCCISL pledged its commitment to collaborate closely with the new administration to offer their support for policies and initiatives aimed at driving economic prosperity for all Sri Lankans.
