First Capital Holdings PLC, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, announced the successful completion of their CSR project aimed at providing access to safe and dignified housing for underprivileged families in the Bope-Poddala Division, in the Galle district.
In a heartfelt ceremony attended by senior staff from both organisations and key government officials, two new homes were handed over to deserving families.
From First Capital, Deputy Chairperson Manjula Mathews, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Dilshan Wirasekara and AGM/Head of Marketing Randinith Madanayake attended the event. Acting Divisional Secretary of Bope-Poddala DS Division H.G. Kithmini Sadeepthika and representatives from Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka, including National Director Yu Hwa Li, Senior Construction Manager Eng. T. Kaandeepan and Technical Officer P. Suresh were also present.
The First Capital Housing Project was initiated in the Galle district with a mission to provide safe and stable homes for low-income families. The first four homes were constructed for K.H. Achala Udayanthi, G.W. Siripala, H.G. Krishanthi and K.H. Vipulasena, under the technical supervision of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka.
Emphasising eco-friendly practices, the homes have been built using compressed stabilised earth blocks, promoting climate-appropriate construction. This initiative not only aims to improve living conditions but also considers the environmental impact, marking a step towards promoting sustainable development practices.

Wirasekara stated, “We are proud to have partnered with Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka on this project that is very close to our hearts. Our greater vision is to empower the communities around us. Through this partnership, now on its third year, we have been able to successfully complete six homes for deserving families. We appreciate the support of local authority officials and the ongoing efforts of Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka in uplifting our communities.”
Li stated, “This partnership with First Capital has been instrumental in empowering these families and transforming their lives for the better. Stable housing is a fundamental need and far too many in our communities lack it. We are incredibly grateful to First Capital for stepping forward and creating this impactful partnership.”
