Five Sri Lankan QC teams achieve Gold at ICQCC in Manila

Five Sri Lankan Quality Circle teams representing four organizations have won Gold awards for their case study presentations during the International Convention of Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) held in Manila, Philippines on 25th and 26th October.


Two teams from DSI Group and one each from Eskimo Fashions, Sri Lanka Telecom, Kandy and Lanka Hospitals took part at this competition. There were altogether 374 case study presentations by leading entities from the Asian Region including Toyota, Kubota, Tata, Mahindra and Mahindra, Reliance, Birla, Ashok Leyland, Haier, Huawei and Honda.


The total participation at this mega event was 1700 people. The 40 member Sri Lankan delegation was accompanied by Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity (SLAAQP) President Nimal Perera, Vice President Bennet Gamlath and Editor Uditha Senaratna.


ICQCC is an annual event which is held in each member country and SLAAQP hosted this convention in 2014 at BMICH, Colombo. The Coordinating Committee Member countries are Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka. The five teams which won the Gold awards at ICQCC became eligible to take part in the International Convention after winning the Gold Awards at the National Convention of Quality and Productivity (NCQP) held in 14th June 2017 under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. This annual event was organized by SLAAQP.
