CEO of IIHS Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe and The School Curriculum and Standard Authority’s Patrick Garnett signing the agreement
IIHS (International Institute of Health Sciences) has entered into an agreement with the Western Australian Government to establish the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) in Sri Lanka for the first time.
It was signed by the CEO of IIHS, Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe, on behalf of the institute and The School Curriculum and Standard Authority’s Patrick Garnett, on behalf of the Western Australian Government.
Affiliated to IIHS, ISWA International School is established in Welisara, in order to launch WACE education system in Sri Lanka. Through this, Sri Lankan students will have the opportunity to receive education under the Western Australian system of education.
WACE education system gives an added advantage to students seeking to pursue higher education in Australia. Students who complete WACE will have access to higher education in Australia without IELTS and will receive priority upon entrance. Priority will also be given to students who wish to seek employment in Australia and obtain Australian citizenship after completing their education.
Currently, only the British education system, led by Edexcel and Cambridge, is popular in Sri Lanka as an international educational methodology. Against this backdrop, the launch of the Australian Government-approved education system in Sri Lanka is a significant turning point in Sri Lanka’s international education sector.
Dr. Edirisinghe stated that this new approach is a great opportunity for students to receive international education qualifications by joining IIHS, which has a distinguished history of over two decades in the field of higher education.
