HNB Finance concluded its latest financial literacy workshops under the theme, ‘Financial Literacy for Development’ aimed at empowering micro and small-scale entrepreneurs (MSMEs).
The initiative is part of HNB Finance’s broader commitment to advancing sustainability and eradicating poverty through financial literacy. Over the past several years, the Company’s programmes have impacted a large scale of MSMEs island wide, helping them develop strong financial management skills necessary for business success.
Led by Anura Udawatta, Head of Skill Development at HNB Finance, the financial literacy workshops addressed essential topics, including business account management, debt management, profit reinvestment, cost control, and identifying new business opportunities.
Held in Nittambuwa and Nuwera Eliya, the event hosted over 300 participants, equipping them with critical financial knowledge to enhance their business operations and drive sustainable growth. Participants were guided through strategies to strengthen their financial practices, positioning them for long-term success and resilience in the marketplace.
HNB Finance also recognised and awarded the most innovative business ideas presented by the attending entrepreneurs, celebrating their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Each participant received a copy of the Company’s comprehensive manual, Financial Literacy for Growth, a resource designed to serve as a lasting reference for managing their businesses effectively.
Commenting on the success of the program, HNB Finance Managing Director and CEO, Chaminda Prabhath stated, “Financial literacy is a critical component that drives growth and sustainability within any business model. Our continued efforts to empower the MSME community have played a significant role in enabling micro and small-scale businesses to operate sustainably over the years. With improved financial understanding, these enterprises are better equipped to grow and even expand into larger operations.In addition to the workshops, HNB Finance offers tailored financial support through working capital solutions, further assisting MSMEs in transitioning from micro-enterprises to thriving small and medium-sized businesses. This ongoing dedication underscores the company’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting sustainable economic development across Sri Lanka”.
