Hatton National Bank partners with SLTA

Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB), Sri Lanka’s leading private sector bank, recently announced its partnership with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) as a sponsor, for the prestigious 109th Sri Lanka Nationals 2024 tennis tournament, reaffirming its commitment to fostering sports development and nurturing young talent in Sri Lanka. 
The tournament, scheduled from August through September, is set to showcase the country’s exceptional tennis talent across various age categories, including Junior, Senior and Wheelchair events. With over 1,400 entries expected from all corners of the nation, the event promises to be a celebration of Sri Lankan tennis at its finest. 
“We believe that sports play a critical role in society, helping young Sri Lankans to understand the value of competition and continuous betterment at an early age. Hence, for decades, HNB has been steadfast supporters of national sports development. By sponsoring the 109th Sri Lanka Nationals 2024 tennis tournament, we hope to foster a culture of excellence, discipline and healthy competition. Our involvement in sports aligns seamlessly with our broader vision of sustainable national development, recognising that a thriving sports ecosystem contributes to the overall well-being and progress of Sri Lanka,” HNB Chief Operating Officer Sanjay Wijemanne said.  


The tournament will feature competitions across 17 clay courts at multiple prestigious venues, including the Sinhalese Sports Club, Army Tennis Courts, Police Park Courts and SLTA Courts. It will be officiated by a team of highly qualified umpires, led by Tournament Referee Chamod Ruppassara, an ITF White Badge Referee and Chair Umpire. 
SLTA President Iqbal Bin Issack expressed gratitude for HNB’s support, stating, “Corporate partnerships in sports are like the strings of a finely tuned racquet, weaving together support, mentorship and opportunity. HNB’s dedication to promoting sporting excellence is commendable and crucial for the development of tennis in Sri Lanka.”
