Leading software developing company IFS reached the 25-year milestone in operating in Sri Lanka yesterday, contributing significantly to the development of the ICT talent pool in the island nation.
Having kicked off operations with only 26 employees, the IFS Sri Lanka operation is now a team of 2,200 employees, accounting for about 40 percent of the entity’s global workforce.
“It goes without saying that our Sri Lankan team has played a critical role in providing us with the organisational support and agility we needed to achieve the growth that we have,” said IFS Chief Executive Officer Darren Roos, who is in the country, along with the other senior officials of the global operations to celebrate the 25th anniversary of IFS.
He added that the contribution of the team in Sri Lanka towards the success and company culture of IFS can be felt throughout the organisation, due to its support to so many of the working processes, from R&D to HR, marketing, support and more.
“Twenty-five years is a very significant journey that we look forward to progressing as we also continue to invest in our business here.
IFS is bigger, better and stronger than it has ever been and we could not have got there without the amazing talent in Sri Lanka. We will continue to expand our growth here in Sri Lanka,” Roos added.
Commenting on reaching the milestone, IFS Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ranil Rajapakse said it has been a rich and rewarding experience to witness the company’s ascent and transformation over the last 25 years.
“Especially seeing the extensive growth of our employee network entering IFS as graduates, I am honoured to work alongside such an intelligent, hardworking and driven team of professionals. I cannot wait to see what the next 25 years bring for IFS Sri Lanka,” said Rajapaksa.
Since its establishment in Sri Lanka 25 years ago, IFS has generated more than 5,000 employment opportunities for Sri Lankans. Close to 80 percent of its global product support services and 60 percent of the global product development of IFS is facilitated out of Colombo.
In 2022, IFS partnered with Hatch to launch Challenger X, a tech incubation programme in Sri Lanka, to foster innovation in the country’s growing tech sector.
IFS Sri Lanka was ranked amongst the top 100 Sri Lankan corporates in the Most Respected Entities in Sri Lanka corporates by LMD Magazine and was also ranked as a top Sri Lankan business entity on dynamism, corporate culture, innovation, management profile and HR/people management lists.
Further, the IFS Foundation continues to invest in a series of projects in partnership with local Sri Lankan communities to alleviate poverty.
