An International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff team would arrive in Sri Lanka today, the multilateral lender said in a statement, yesterday.
The delegation would visit Sri Lanka during May 11-23, as part of regular consultations, ahead of the first review mission later this year, the IMF said in a statement.
IMF Asia and Pacific Department Director Krishna Srinivasan will join the visit during May 12-15 and a press briefing would be held on Monday (15), the statement said.
Sri Lanka’s economy, which went through its worst crisis last year, characterised by debt default, has embarked on a recovery path, though the country is yet to strike a debt treatment deal with its creditors.
Sri Lanka finalised a nearly US $ 3 billion IMF programme in March and received the first tranche of US $ 330 million
soon after.
