INSEE Sanstha Cement supports vital COVID-19 relief efforts

INSEE Cement Sri Lanka has extended vital support to the authorities towards dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and helping to build a resilient nation.


INSEE Sanstha cement, Sri Lanka’s most loved cement brand, stepped forward to provide valuable resources towards construction of the management center for COVID-19 in Iranawila, Puttalam. 


The objective of the building was to establish a dedicated facility and help increase the capacity of major hospitals treating suspected COVID-19 patients.


Additionally, INSEE Cement Sri Lanka, donated Sanstha cement towards the construction of a vital CT scan building at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), a philanthropic initiative carried out by Engineering Association of University of Moratuwa in the forefront of Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 battle. 


Understanding the shortage of personal protective equipment such as face masks, which has become a serious challenge, INSEE provided over 12,000 face masks and essential stationery items to personnel in the frontline.
These donations were to support Sri Lanka Police officers and Healthcare workers who are on-duty combatting COVID-19 in turn protecting the Sri Lankan public and the nation.

While the coronavirus pandemic is affecting the entire country, INSEE Cement Sri Lanka understands the gravity of the crisis on those who struggle to make ends meet especially those who survive on daily wages are dire.  In recognising the profound impact of the pandemic on vulnerable communities, INSEE is additionally supporting communities in the areas close to our operations in Puttalam and Galle. The INSEE Puttalam Cement Plant Management and Corporate Social Responsibility teams reached up to about hundreds of families, distributing dry rations and food supplies.


These families were selected by the Puttalam Divisional Secretariat, Grama Niladari and INSEE-Puttalam Community Advisory Panel representatives to ensure the welfare of these communities and the most vulnerable  are supported. Meanwhile, in an initiative driven by INSEE Ruhunu Cement plant employees, apool of volunteer employees, former INSEE employees, their families and friends voluntarily joined together, collected funds and have been supporting over 140 daily wage-earning families in Galle with food supplies.
