iflix, the world’s leading mobile-based subscription video on demand (SVoD) service for emerging markets, offering subscribers unlimited access to thousands of TV shows, movies and more, celebrates its first anniversary of operations in Sri Lanka.

Streaming premium content in all three languages to Sri Lankans islandwide, iflix offers unparalleled viewing and connectivity options. It includes unlimited access to thousands of blockbuster English, Sinhala, Tamil and Bollywood hits and now widely popular ‘K-Dramas’ from Korea.

iflix Group CEO Marc Barnett was in Colombo recently to commemorate the company’s one year of operations in Sri Lanka and stated, “iflix has made significant progress in the country within a short span and it has been a privilege to open up a world of new entertainment options to Sri Lankan viewers.”

The company will strengthen its partnerships with local service providers to further enhance viewing options and content over the next one year, Barnett added.

New subscribers in Sri Lanka will receive one-month free trial with full access to its service, features and content, whilst customers of Dialog Axiata will receive an exclusive 12 months unlimited access to iflix service.

iflix recently joined hands with Axiata Group Berhad, one of Asia’s largest telecommunications groups with presence in 10 countries across the ASEAN and South Asia, and iflix is to bring the best in entertainment to Axiata’s more than 125 million customers in six countries.

In addition, iflix and Axiata intend to jointly produce content specially created for Axiata’s customers in the markets covered by the collaboration. Dialog’s association with iflix epitomizes the shared visions of mobile digital lifestyles for all citizens, as the two companies offer unmatched value in terms of connectivity, access and world-class content for everyone.

iflix Sri Lanka Country Manager Shadwell Weerasinghe said, “Our viewpoint is not to position ourselves as just another provider of streaming content but to provide quality, customized content that is available on the go to all Sri Lankan consumers. We stand proud of the content and reach we have achieved over the past one year and whilst thanking our valued business partners and viewers for their patronage we look forward to greater things in time to come.”

With more than five million members and five billion minutes streamed since launch, iflix has established itself as the clear market leader in video streaming. Now available to over one billion consumers across 18 territories throughout Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, iflix recently announced the establishment of iflix Africa, to make its world-class service available in Sub-Saharan Africa.
