Improved harvest ahead

Sri Lanka yesterday offloaded at the Colombo Port 13,000 MT of urea that will be used to increase the paddy and maize harvest in the country.

The shipment, arriving from China, is the first under the assistance programme from the US $ 105 million extended by the World Bank.

Although paddy cultivation in the Maha season has not yet started, the Agriculture Ministry has taken efforts to disburse the required quantities of urea to the agrarian service centers across the country.

Arrangements are made to deliver the first stock to the service centers in the Batticaloa, Ampara and
Trincomalee districts.
